In an exciting move for Southpac International Group, Daniel Hummerdal has joined the team as Director Safety Innovation & Leadership, commencing in July.

A familiar name in Australian and New Zealand safety circles as an early adopter of New View safety approaches in APAC, Daniel will step into a new challenge – developing Southpac’s Host Leadership offering, along with a suite of services for organisational improvement.

Initially trained as a pilot before re-training as a psychologist, Daniel’s career has taken him all over the world, working in Sweden, France, the UK, US and more recently across Australia and New Zealand.

His association with Southpac goes back many years, aligned with his focus on leading change and implementing organisational practices that enable humans to thrive. Daniel has worked in various roles across a range of industries – from construction and mining to electricity and aviation – supporting leaders to implement and manage meaningful change.

“I am most interested in the notion of human potential,” says Daniel. “When we enable humans to develop, grow, care and innovate, we get people to work together to solve problems together, and they will in turn implement the changes that are needed.”

“My focus is on designing better practices for end users, to realise more of the human potential residing in organisations – ensuring people are not held back by outdated ideas or overburdened with processes.”

Southpac CEO Andy Shone said it was a coup to have Daniel join the company as it grows from strength to strength. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Daniel for many years, and have always found his ideas and strategies to be innovative and unique – not just in safety, but across all areas of organisational performance,” said Andy.

“It’s really exciting to be bringing Daniel on board, as we develop and introduce the concepts and tools of Host Leadership to the organisations we work with, as well as any organisations or individuals looking for a new approach to leadership.”
